Quilters Guild donate Happy Homes Quilt

Published Date: December 26, 2011

The Cabin Branch Quilters Guild of Woodbridge presented a special quilt entitled Happy Homes to Project Mend-A-House executive director Andrea Saccoccia at its monthly meeting on December 12. This beautiful quilt was started by members of the guild several years ago, featuring quilt blocks that each depict a unique house. The project slowly came to completion and now is  a wonderful representation of what Project Mend-A- House gives to the community.

This nonprofit, volunteer-based organization helps senior citizens, disabled persons, veterans, and low-income community members with home needs that affect  their safety and independence. Home repairs, yard projects, and home modifications, such as ramp entrances when stairs cannot be used, are just a few of the services they provide to people who really need this assistance.

This gift from Cabin Branch Quilters Guild shows their support and respect for this very valuable group. Project Mend-A-House plans to display it at area libraries and throughout the community. It plans to raffle it off at its annual Taste of the Town dinner held on October 17, 2012 at the VFW Hall Post 1503, 14631 Minnieville Road in Woodbridge.

For more information on the quilt or how to purchase raffle tickets, please contact the Project Mend-A-House office at 703-792-7663.
