Prince William Chamber Announces Government Contractors Industry Day

Published Date: January 21, 2012

The Prince William Chamber of Commerce is organizing its second annual Government Contractors Industry Day, a full-day conference that fosters government contracting opportunities in Prince William on Thursday, March 1, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at Foxchase Manor, 8310 Chatsworth Drive in Manassas. Keynote speakers include Brigadier General Frank Kelley, Commander of Marine Corps Systems Command. The event is sponsored by Logis-Tech, Inc.; Lockheed Martin, MTCI-Management and Training Consultants, Inc., PNC Bank, and Vanderpool, Frostick & Nishanian, P.C.

Prince William Government Contractors Industry Day will feature workshops, high-level speakers, a tradeshow and networking. Breakfast and lunch are also included in ticket prices. The event is one of many activities through which the Chamber supports businesses involved in the government contracting sector.

“Industry Day is part of a much broader focus for the Prince William Chamber…specifically looking at government contractors and their role in our strong local economic development programs. This sector is, and will continue to be, a significant factor in jobs creation in the coming years,” said Dave Grover, President & CEO of Washington Square Associates and Chair of the Prince William Chamber’s Government Contracting Committee.  He noted that attendees can meet with players from the Department of Defense and other agencies as well as industry leaders and smaller firms in the contracting field, providing opportunities to gain knowledge, build partnerships and grow their businesses.

Kent Milliken, CEO of MTCI-Management and Training Consultants, Inc. discussed his experience at last year’s Industry Day, “Our team networked with sixteen other businesses or service organizations where we saw the opportunity to partner. This event was extremely educational.”  MTCI will again be an exhibitor and sponsor of the conference.

“If you are a government contractor, want to be a government contractor, or you want to build a partnership within the government contracting industry, this is the event to attend! Your network is your most valuable asset for gaining new business opportunities,” said Robin Snyder, Supplier Diversity Program Manager for Lockheed Martin - Mission Systems & Sensors.  Snyder noted that the Chamber’s 2011 Government Contractors Industry Day was a sold-out event. In anticipation of increased participation this year, the event has been moved to a larger venue.

Programming is set to focus specifically on agencies in the Prince William region.  Speakers for Industry Day have been encouraged to share their perspective as to what proposed changes by the federal government will mean for the contracting industry, highlighting potential challenges and opportunities.

Early bird registration is open through February 24, $70 for members and $85 for non-members and includes breakfast and lunch. After this date, ticket cost will be $90 for members and $115 for non-members. To get more information or to register, go to www.GovConDay.com or call 703-368-6600.
