On Saturday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m., actors with the professional touring company, Bright Star Children's Theatre, will present a live production that honors and celebrates the life of Frederick Douglass at Potomac Community Library. Douglass was born a slave on a Maryland plantation, but escaped to the North. Throughout his life, Douglass made education a priority, teaching himself to read and write and always placing a high value on the value of education and the worlds it could open up. He became a brilliant orator, writer, presidential advisor, famed abolitionist and even a vice-presidential candidate! Join Bright Star's talented actors as they bring to life this great historic figure and provide us with context about the world in which he lived.

This production has been honored with an invitation to perform at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, among other venues. The show is recommended for elementary school-age students in Kindergarten and beyond, as well as teens and adults.

Please pick up free tickets for the performance beginning Saturday, February 6th. A ticket will be required for each person attending; a person many pick up no more than 5 tickets.
