Nokesville Business Association

BristowEnews.com lead staff writer met with the Nokesville Business Association (NBA) over dinner soiree at one of the local restaurants in Bristow and covered the current state of the organization.Tom Basham, President of Nokesville Business Associates discussed the organization has been existence for the past 7 years and currently has 75 active members. The organization started six (6) years ago as a Christmas decoration club and helped light the Nokesville Christmas tree. In the past NBA has helped the Raritan Events such as the Nokesville Day and the Brunswick Stew Day annual event. NBA has also supported the BARN , a non-profit organization and a temporary housing and support services to homeless women and children located in Bristow, Virginia.

The current projects of NBA include the following:

1. Nokesville "Welcome Sign" and Park Benches which memorialized with the names of Nokesville residence.
2. With the assistance of Tom Davis, 11th District Congressman, NBA has raised $200,000 for the long anticipated amphitheater to be built at the Nokesville Community Park. A preliminary plan is currently in the design phase and will seat several hundred people.
3. The 4th Edition of the Business directory will be issued in the fall of 2007.
4. Free spring and summer concerts such as the Father's Day concert which was recently featured in this news magazine.

The organization meets regularly at the Nokesville Firehouse No. 5 every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6 pm. Mr. Basham is currently working on a documentary project detailing the history of Nokesville - past, present, and future.
