Lead Virginia is a program for leaders around the state to connect for the purpose of learning about regional differences and needs. Each class is comprised of around forty senior-level executives from large and small businesses, economic development agencies, elected and appointed local and state government positions, education and non-profit organizations across Virginia.
Participants grapple with challenges, opportunities and major issues in technology, health, military, government, education, economic development, industry, immigration and transportation during seven intense monthly sessions held across the state.
In the end, the program creates a non-partisan network of informed, active leaders with a shared vision for the Commonwealth's future.
The class of 2007, which convened on April 19th in Williamsburg, is the third class to graduate the Lead Virginia program. Monthly sessions were held in Southern Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, Northern Virginia, Southwestern Virginia and Hampton Roads, culminating in the graduation gala in Richmond.
"I found the Lead Virginia program to be an interesting and exciting way to learn about the Commonwealth of Virginia. Getting to know my classmates who are leaders in their own communities is an opportunity I will never forget. I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to make a difference in Virginia," commented Debbie Jones.
