Manassas, Virginia - July 17, 2007. Children attending Holy Trinity's Summer Vacation Bible School held at the Manassas Presbyterian Church last week were enchanted by the Eleventh Commandment Puppet Production Company's stories about "Forgiveness," "The Image of God," (the enormous beauty and creativity of God) and the "Attitude of Gratitude," (using one's talent to show God's love.)
The Eleventh Commandment Puppeteer's are a group of home schooled children ages 12 to 14, who began reading books about how to make their own puppets. It took them about 9 months to make the puppets as well as create their own scripts to entertain people with modern day experiences and how the bible teaches creativity, forgiveness, generosity, mercy and sharing talents. Their first production took place at the Holy Trinity Parish Picnic in June 2007.
The puppets were well crafted and colorful. The puppeteers give high energy and enthusiasm to the stories and in every show, the audience, no matter what age, was enthralled by the production, which included hip Christian music for children.
Margaret Loesel is the Adult Director for the children, and she assisted with the editing of the scripts and the mechanics of working their puppets. The company came about through a desire to use their time and talent to build the church and to be creative, artistic and dramatic in a way that serves God. Being behind the curtain takes the fear out of performing in front of an audience for the puppeteers and equalizes their performance capacity. The Eleventh Commandment has also recently performed at the Adult Day Care Center in Manassas, Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation, and the Noah's Ark Preschool.
