BristowEnews.com recently met with Mr. and Mrs. Bob FitzSimmonds at a breakfast fund-raising meeting at the Old Towne Inn, Manassas, Virginia. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. We spoke to Mrs. FitzSimmonds and she described their current door-to-door campaign and their goal of reaching out to the 18,000 potential voters in the 29th District of the State of Virginia. According to Mrs. FitzSimmonds, they spend 3 to 4 hours a day campaigning and have covered part of Montclair as well as the Linton Hall Corridor. There are a lot of new voters in Bristow, Gainesville and Nokesville communities, but the overall response was positive. On June 28th they will be having another fundraiser with Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling.
Mr. Bob FitzSimmonds gave the opening speech and introduced the following elected officials and notable individuals:

James Fotis, Candidate for Prince William County Sheriff
Prince William County Supervisor Wally Covington led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance and said Bob is one of his favorite constituents here. Mr. Covington stated that the local government has been making up for the lack of tax dollars that we receive from the state in order to fix the problems here. He introduced the 44th Attorney General of the State of Virginia, Mr. Bob McDonnell.

Bob FitzSimmonds and supporter
The Attorney General discussed how the local media i.e. the Washington Post has been unreceptive to the GOP in the recent news cycles. He believes this is the year we will be calling Bob FitzSimmonds, Senator FitzSimmonds because he will give the citizens of Northern Virginia a true representation of current issues and concerns. Bob has longstanding roots in the community and his background in business and banking give him an edge in reducing impediments for free enterprise and building jobs. Bob and Debra are the parents of 4 children and understand family values and the need for Internet Safety so that we can protect children as well as the elderly who are the most vulnerable to Internet crimes such as Identity Theft, Online Fraud and sexual predation. The Attorney General reflected on America's 400th anniversary and provided the audience with his view regarding our inalienable rights given to us by our creator and that it is the governments' job to protect them. The Attorney General believes the Republican Party has the best ideas and can make a difference in the lives of Americans no matter what their social status, heritage or political standing. He emphasized the need to address the practical issues of our day, Immigration, Transportation and Gang Violence. He noted that Prince William County is the one fastest growing counties in the United States and that we have a sophisticated electorate but he is confident that if Republicans work hard and run hard that they can win the upcoming November election. With this in mind, he fully endorses Bob FitzSimmonds as the next State Senator of Virginia for the 29th District.

51st Delegate Michele McQuigg and Sherriff Glen Hill
Bob FitzSimmonds thanked Bob McDonnell for campaigning for him and described how he and his wife Debbie go door to door to reach voters. He said Republicans are devastated when they hear he is running against incumbent Chuck Colgan but at the same time they say it is time for a change and hope that he will beat him. Mr. Fitzsimmons mentioned that Colgan was quoted in the papers as saying he needs to run for the State Senate so that the Democrats can have a majority.
His major campaign theme for the 29th District is the Appropriation Funding for the State. He mentioned that Northern Virginia has 25% of the population but produces 40% of state revenues. Mr. FitzSimmonds mentioned for every dollar we spend on taxes in Prince William, area residents get forty-six cents back. As Prince William County becomes more and more affluent, we will get less and less back. Most of our road projects are funded by the county and we need to ask the state for our share of transportation money. He also addressed the need for the Richmond to change its attitude toward Northern Virginia in terms of public funding and transportation.
Mr.FitzSimmonds sees Illegal Immigration as another primary issue among voters in the 29th District. He stated that Northern Virginian taxpayers' dollars are spent educating illegal immigrants' children in public school system. In his speech, Mr. FitzSimmonds noted Mr. Wally Covington asked for an accounting of how many children in public schools are illegal immigrants so we can quantify the cost to the federal government. His premise behind the proposal is to take full accounting and as symbolic gesture in presenting the finding and facts to the Federal Government for State funding appropriation and possibly craft and review current and future Immigration Bills and policies.
He publicly acknowledged that he is a "Pro-Life" and he believes in the protection of human life from conception to natural death. In addition, he endorses "Support School Choice", a grass-roots campaign giving the parents the choice in deciding where to send their children regardless if they are home-schooled, send to private schools, or public schools. It gives the parents the right, not the state to decide what is best for their children.
In closing, Mr.FitzSimmonds looks forward to his campaign and is surrounded by an aggressive and capable team of volunteer. He is currently promoting the "Ten for Bob" advertising, where volunteers take ten brochures and hand them their friends and families.
