Nokesville Community Park, Nokesville, Virginia, June 17, 2007. The Prince William Community Band and people from the audience who were "In the Mood" swung to the music on the grounds of Nokesville Community Park. Approximately 200 people gathered to listen or dance to the soothing sounds of the Prince William Community Band, whose music was light, sweet, and reminiscent of a bygone era where Sunday afternoons meant spending quality time with your friends and families.
The Prince William Community Band serenaded the crowds with a variety of songs including old and new favorites such as "West Side Story" by Leonard Bernstein; "In the Mood" by Joe Garland; to the magical tune of the "Pirates of Caribbean" by Klaus Badelt. Ed Jones, is the principle Conductor for the band which includes eighty-one members who play instruments such as: Flute, Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Trumpet/Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Tuba and Percussion. They played nine arrangements that mesmerized the crowd.
The event was sponsored by the Nokesville Business Association and the Featured Sponsor Member - John Hinkle of John Hancock Financial Network. Mr. John Hinkle would like to extend his gratitude to the following individuals and organizations:
Mr. Tom Basham, President of the Nokesville Business Association for sponsoring the refreshments; Members of the Nokesville Business Association (NBA); the Prince William Community Band; Corey A. Stewart, Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors; Bingo the Clown; and Mary Joyce Kemper for helping out in the dance lessons.
This Father's Day Event was definitely a score (no pun intended) and provided the families, particularly Dads, a well deserved rest.
