Holy Trinity Church in Gainesville, Virginia, held tours for their parishioners in September and October to allow them to see the construction of the building prior to its completion. Groups were taken in limited numbers on tours guided by Mr. George Osilka, who is on the Holy Trinity Building Committee and is in charge of the Construction Committee, which over sees the construction phase of the Cruciform-shaped building.
The Construction Committee is composed of thirty-five people with Mr. Reginald Arnold as head. Each member is responsible for a specific aspect of the building such as the stained glass, organ, pew seating etc. Members would contact vendors and set up presentation meetings where the committee could evaluate the products and make a selection based upon quality, pricing and specifications. Mr. Osilka's role is to make sure that everything is done within the allotted time frame and according to the specifications.
Highlights of the tour included the Sanctuary with views of a few stained glass windows, the Fleur-de-lis (which symbolizes Mary the mother of Jesus,) the Sacristy (where the vestments are stored,) the Adoration Chapel, the Choir Loft and organ, the many offices, classrooms, and activity rooms. On the tour parishioners could see the Sacristy construction which includes the dome shaped altar that is composed of light gauged steel and flexible drywall. The basement was re-engineered to become a finished space since the main church hall construction is now scheduled for completion at a later phase.
All the church design specifications were completed in 2004. In October of 2007 the exterior scaffolding has been removed and the cross installed on the roof of the entrance. The church is fully enclosed with doors and window and all the intricate woodwork can now be installed since the building has climate control.
