RICHMOND, VA-The political arm of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation announced this week that it has endorsed Bob FitzSimmonds (R-Prince William) in the race for the 29th Senate District seat in Manassas, Manassas Park, and western Prince William County.
"We are thrilled to have the Farm Bureau's support. They represent an important sector of Prince William County's and the Commonwealth's economy," said FitzSimmonds.
FitzSimmonds is the only candidate endorsed by the Farm Bureau's Virginia AgPAC that is challenging an incumbent member of the General Assembly. The organization generally supports incumbents and has previously endorsed Sen. Charles J. Colgan's re-election.
"I appreciate the courage it took for AgPAC to endorse against a long-term incumbent and am going to work hard to prove it was the right decision," said FitzSimmonds.
The Virginia Farm Bureau represents more than 148,000 farmers across the Commonwealth, making it Virginian's largest farm organization. AgPAC makes its endorsements based on the recommendations of local famers in each district.
FitzSimmonds "has demonstrated a clear understanding of the needs of agriculture and forestry," said Wayne Pryor, chairman of AgPAC.
