Yahoo was founded in 1994, by Stanford graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo. Originally Yahoo started out as "Jerry's Guide to the World Wide Web" before being renamed. Akebono and Konishiki, were the names of two Sumo wrestlers and became the names of the servers that Yahoo originally resided on. Yahoo quickly became a popular search engine on the Internet.
