Bristow, VA ~ BristowEnews.com spoke to Janet Howell, President of Dunbarton Retirement Community in Braemar and discussed the benefits living in Dunbarton, a retirement community for senior citizens 55 plus. The community is located in the heart of Bristow, VA. According to Janet, although Dunbarton is a gated community; it shares the same amenities with the residents of Braemar II. Dunbarton homes adopted a "Neo-Classical Architecture" design within the community. This architecture involves a combination of traditional family homes are blended with duplex homes to produce a home town feeling. She indicated the most homes are either built, depending on the buyer's preference, with detached or attached side-load or rear garages. There are currently 497 homes that have been completed and another 30 home that are available or under construction.

Janet indicated most residents of the community have regular day time jobs while others have decided to scale down. Some residents have purchased their homes for retirement while others for vacation homes. Most floor plans have single level floor design which includes a master bedroom and bathrooms. Some homes have multiple floors such as top floor or finished basements to accommodate guests.

The Dunbarton homes have "Universal Design" features which have been strategically placed within the home. Every day comforts such as toilet seats are generally higher to accommodate members of the community who are handicapped. The light switches are lower, the door knobs are levered, the doors are wider for wheel chair access, and the towel bars in the bathroom are supported by blocks in the event a resident needs assistance.

Access to Dunbarton includes the use a "Fab" key for entry and exit on both entrances of the community in addition to security cameras. Visitors of the community are provided numerical pass codes which are then registered to the home owner's personal computer for accessing the gated community.

The retirement community has a 14,000 square foot club house with indoor heated pool, billiard room, ball room, and indoor exercise gym. The club house has an outdoor championship tennis court and putting green inclusively for members of the community. Dunbarton has hiking and biking trail, the community can access the regular Braemar II facilities such as pools and common areas. The community has so many active life-style clubs that are scheduled throughout the week such as the cooking club, garden club, poker club, and other active organization within the community.

The homes are priced from $299,990 and upwards. Dunbarton homes are offering incentives in finding prospective home buyers finding their dream homes. They have established partnerships with local realtors and the developer of the community is providing generous financing plans. Dunbarton is conveniently located to shopping centers such as Braemar Village Plaza, Virginia Gateway in Gainesville, and Bristow Shopping Center. Local Colleges and Universities are also minutes from the retirement community.
