Newseum Grand Opening on April 11, 2008
The Newseum will be opening to the public on Friday, April 11th and will include free admission to the public for the grand opening. Beginning Saturday, April 12th, the admission fee will be $20 for adults (ages 13 to 64), $18 for seniors (65 and older), $13 for youth (7-12) and free admission for children under seven years of age. The opening day activities will include a live broadcast from the Newseum on “Good Morning America.” Tickets may be purchased online at www.newseum.org or by telephone at 1-888-639-7386 or in person.
According to Newseum press releases, the exhibits will take visitors through the history of news, from early printed pages to the current digital media. A ninety foot high atrium houses a forty by twenty-two foot media screen, where breaking news, events and documentaries will be shown. The 250,000 square feet of exhibit spaces will offer 15 theaters, 14 galleries, two broadcast studios and a 4-D travel experience. The building will also include a two level conference center, food court and museum store.[1]
