Tell the Prince William BOCS You Support an Animal Advisory Committee!
**Update** The presentation for an Animal Advisory Committee is scheduled for May 13th (time is currently 2 PM in Board Chambers). Please come out to show your support for this committee. Plan to speak during citizen's time. All citizens of Prince William County are encouraged to e-mail, call or write their supervisor and Chairman Stewart to encourage them to support the formation of an Animal Advisory Committee. If you want dog parks, more pet-friendly events, more spay/neuter options or just want to see improvements to animal welfare in our county, take the time to voice your opinion today!
Find out more on this issue at www.pwc-aac.org.
Prince William County, VA, has no low-cost spay/neuter clinics, no humane education offered in schools, no dog parks and no cruelty awareness campaigns. The county spends $1.3 million each year to house and care for 7,000 shelter animals -- 1/2 are euthanized at a tax-payer bill of $30,000.
An Animal Advisory Committee will increase community outreach, seek outside grant funding for animal welfare initiatives, support Animal Control Services and promote programs, services, classes and special events that will further assist Prince William County in providing the best possible service to the community. More info at http://www.pwc-aac.org/.
This citizen-run committee will help to:
1.) Control Pet Overpopulation
2.) Offer Humane Education to Children
3.) Lower Shelter Pet Euthanizations
4.) Create Off-leash Dog Parks
5.) Increase Cruelty Awareness
6.) Provide Low-cost Spay/Neuter Options
7.) Attract Pet-friendly Businesses to the County
8.) Promote Proper Pet Care
9.) And save the county money
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors meet on May 13, 2008 to discuss this issue. Tell them you support the formation of this committee by signing the petition today!
