BristowEnews.com Celebrates Earth Day!

BristowEnews.com began in 2007 with the premise of conserving valuable natural resources. BristowEnews.com strictly publishes online in order to conserve the use of pulp paper products therefore reducing the need to cut down trees for printed materials.
One of our main goals is to reduce news print waste consumption generated by our community. Through online publishing and advertising, we provide our readers with an avenue to reach readers in our area without the use of newsprint, signage and flyers; therefore, beautifying our community.
We care about community, our neighborhoods, our environment, and we advocate and promote clean and healthy life style living. We believe in recycling and the use of renewable resources.
Earth Day began during the 1960’s when Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, went on “Conservation Tours” with President Kennedy. He was concerned that the state of the environment was a “non issue” with the government and he sought a way to bring the environment into focus. Earth Day grew out of grass roots efforts and a “teach in” organized by Senator Gaylord. Twenty million demonstrators and thousands of schools participated in the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970.
The Environmental Protection Agency was later founded in the 1970’s. For a timeline of efforts made by the United States Government since then, visit their web site at: http://www.epa.gov/earthday/history.htmSenator Gaylord Nelson, “How the First Earth Day Came About” 4/22/2008 http://earthday.envirolink.org/history.html
