Manassas, VA— Thirty-two nonprofit community service organizations have been nominated for this year’s Shelley Krasnow Community Service Awards to be presented by the Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce at the 19th Annual Community Showcase Luncheon on February 26th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Best Western Battlefield Inn, 10820 Balls Ford Rd. in Manassas. The luncheon is sponsored by Scott & Stringfellow, Inc.
The Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award is named for Mr. Shelley Krasnow, a Past Chamber Chair and philanthropist dedicated to the service of others. Each recipient receives a check for $1,000 and a plaque to display in their offices. Their name is also engraved on a plaque which hangs in the Chamber office. Last year’s recipients were Habitat for Humanity, Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park and Prince William Area Free Clinic. This year’s awards are sponsored by Idearc Media Inc. - Official Publisher of Verizon Print Directories.
This year, close to 80 nominations were submitted by members of the community. Anyone can nominate any local nonprofit organization for the awards. The Community Relations Committee than reads the nominations and rates them accord to a list of criteria to determine the two finalists.

The Community Showcase Luncheon is one of the many Chamber events designed specifically for nonprofit organizations. Not only do they receive exposure through the Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award presentation, member organizations are also invited to exhibit at the event at no charge.
