The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Movie Review

Not too long ago, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian hit the big screen. Tons of people flooded the theaters to watch the sequel of the successful first movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This highly expected film takes you back to Narnia with the four Pevensie children: Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmund (Skander Keynes), and Lucy (Georgie Henley) once they are summoned to help Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) escape from the evil King Miraz and take the throne which is rightfully his. Even though only one year has passed in our time, 1,300 years has passed in Narnia. But, this time when you return, Narnia is darker than it was before.

After battling and befriending hidden Narnians to help them win back their land the four Pevensie children and Prince Caspian wage one more war against the king and Telmarines to settle the dispute over the land of Narnia.

Both movies are based off of the famous novels of C.S. Lewis with a few noticeable changes. Some major changes were the Pevensie sisters taking place in the battles and the romance between Prince Caspian and Susan. A few extra battle scenes and comic dialogue were also added. Although these changes were not in the books the director and producers (one of them being C.S. Lewis’s stepson) felt that these were necessary in order to produce a sequel that will live up to the success of the first film.

The first film was more children orientated and so was the second one even with the added battle scenes, special effects, and romance. There seems to be some missing magic from the first film that was not in the second. Although children may love this film it may not be quite satisfying for teens and adults.
