RICHMOND – Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today announced the full membership of the Infrastructure in Virginia Working Group. The Working Group’s first meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:00 AM in House Room 1 of the State Capitol Building in Richmond. The meeting is open to the public and interested parties are encouraged to participate.
Last month, Attorney General Bob McDonnell named Lieutenant Governor Bolling Co-Chair of his Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force and asked him to lead the newly created Infrastructure in Virginia Working Group. The Working Group will review governmental rules and regulations regarding education and transportation construction infrastructure in order to increase efficiencies, reduce bureaucracy and mitigate adverse impacts on Virginia businesses and individuals.
“I am honored Attorney General McDonnell has asked me to lead the Working Group on Infrastructure in Virginia and I look forward to working with him and members of the group to make certain that our state government is working for – not against – Virginia families and businesses,” said Lieutenant Governor Bolling. “We have put together a strong team of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds that will provide unique insight on the regulatory and statutory burdens to building roads, bridges and educational facilities in a timely and cost effective manner.”
Speaking about today's announcement, Attorney General McDonnell remarked “Bill Bolling has assembled a team of committed and experienced leaders to take on the critical challenge of reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens and ensuring infrastructure is built in Virginia on-time and on-budget. Bill understands the crucial need for this comprehensive review and is committed to saving tax dollars, increasing innovation and prioritization in our government and eliminating duplicative, unnecessary and outdated regulations. I look forward to great results from this Working Group.”

Quintin Kendall – Chief of Staff, US Department of Transportation
The July 29th meeting will provide an overview, explanation and discussion of the various categories of transportation regulations and recommend areas of review, as well as a period for public comment. The second meeting will move forward with transportation regulations discussed at the initial meeting, with future meetings beginning to focus on education infrastructure issues.
Lieutenant Governor Bolling added, “I encourage individuals and businesses to attend this meeting and participate in this process. To fully understand how we can make governmental regulations more effective and efficient, and eliminate or reform unnecessary or redundant regulations, we need input from all of the stakeholders that are affected by these regulations.”
