Chairman Stewart disappointed Dr. Bustamante visit cancelled

 Corey Stewart
Prince William County Chairman Corey A. Stewart (R- At Large) is disappointed United Nations Special Rapporteur Dr. Bustamante has cancelled his scheduled visit with the chairman.  “I was looking forward to having the discussion”, Chairman Stewart said.  “We are very pleased that the county’s Rule of Law Resolution is having such a positive impact on the quality of life for county citizens.  It would be good for the Rapporteur to understand that.”

Given Dr. Bustamante’s much publicized plans to visit the county, his last minute cancellation also invites speculation as to the reason for his backing out from the meeting. “Who knows”, Stewart offered, “perhaps something personal came up.  If he changes his mind, I’ll find a spot for him on the calendar.  It’s important that the actual facts get out as to the details of the county’s policy.  If Dr. Bustamante can help in that effort, we welcome his involvement.”

Sister Patricia and the Bridge to Rwanda Project

Sister Patricia at Holy Trinity Parish

In April Sister Patricia and the Bridge to Rwanda Project came to Holy Trinity Parish in Gainesville to tell parishioners about her work with orphaned children as a result of the 1994 genocide.  To see the archived story click on the following link:  http://bristowenews.com/news/article/2008/apr/23bridge-rwanda-update

BristowEnews.com received the following update from Sister Patricia, proposed projects and ways people may provide assistance.

Sister Patricia is now safe in Rwanda with her beloved handicapped and orphaned children. She is grateful that she hand-carried a tabernacle and monstrance, donated by Bishop O’Connell High School and Holy Family Academy. They are in use at the chapel of the handicapped orphanage.

Many people ask me what more they can do to assist. Primarily, we should pray for her just as she, the other sisters and children, pray for us. Sister has a strong faith that God will provide. She is extremely thankful for her visit to Virginia, and is especially touched by the outpouring of kindness and support, which she received from a number of schools and parishes in the diocese. Bridge to Rwanda is blessed to have received contributions from people in Ashburn, Warrenton, Manassas, Bristow, Gainesville, Annandale, Woodbridge, Burke, Fairfax, Arlington, Nokesville, Alexandria, and Springfield!  With the help of Catholics in Northern Virginia, the orphanages should be funded through the end of 2008.

Raising Children in Christ Centered Home

 Parenting Series

Greg Witherow, a father of eight children spoke at the Parenting Series hosted by Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Greg stated that our primary objective as parents should be to raise our children as model citizens for heaven and that although people may compliment your family on how well behaved they are, raising children is chaotic.  He believes that children, who internalize the Gospel, will have hearts for Christ and the reason we have children is so that we can get to heaven. One of the primary things to remember is that we are called to faithful and not successful.
