Nokesville, VA- It's that time of year again. Warmer weather brings out
local farmers, bakers and local artisans to begin the 2008 operating season
of the Nokesville Farmers' Market, located just inside Nokesville near
Fitzwater Drive and Nokesville Road (Rt. 28), about five minutes from
Bristow. Opening day is Saturday, June 7, 2008.
"It will be a wonderful and familiar scene when we see the canopies line
up," says farmers' market manager Pablo Teodoro. "Our market is much
different from other markets. We use only local producers and many of our
growers use only natural methods. We see the Nokesville Farmers' Market
becoming a local gathering place on Saturday mornings. A place where you can
find your neighbor visiting with others, stopping off at the market for a
hot cup of coffee and a breakfast pastry, and enjoying the atmosphere that
the market has to offer. We are entering our second operating season with
eighteen local vendors. This is phenomenal growth over last year and will
mean a huge variety for our customers. You don't want to miss this market."
The market opens on Saturday, June 7 from 8 AM - Noon. Special guest Fran
McManus, editor of Cooking Fresh from the Mid-Atlantic, is also a local food
activist and author in her own right. She will be autographing books and
speaking. Music will be provided by Leroy Bates, a local guitarist. Prince
William Soil & Water Conservation District will be on hand to help teach
kids about local environmental concerns.
