March 28, 2008 – BEACON for Adult Literacy would like to announce the return of their Nurses Aide Language Preparatory Program (NALPP) in cooperation with Birmingham Green Assisted Living facility. BEACON and Birmingham Green will host an Open House on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Birmingham Green, 8605 Centreville Road, Manassas, VA. The Western Prince William Branch Office of the Prince William County– Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce to Open in May
Manassas, VA—The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce announced today that its long-awaited Western Prince William branch office will open in May. The new branch office will be located at 7250 Heritage Village Plaza, Ste. 202, in Gainesville, Virginia and will serve the businesses located in the western portion of Prince William County including Bristow, Broad Run, Nokesville, Gainesville and Haymarket. The phone number of the branch office will remain the same: 703-368-6600.
The satellite office was deemed essential by the Board of Directors of the Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce due to the growth in the area in recent years. The county estimates that the population of the region has risen at a rate of at least133 percent in the years since the 2000 census. Six new public schools have been opened there and more than one-quarter of member businesses in the Prince William County–Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce are located in that area.

Virginia Routing of Lottery Funds Unconstitutional
Virginia lawmakers have been violating the state's constitution by failing to route lottery proceeds directly into local education and instead dropping the money into a larger spending pool, a senior staff lawyer said Friday.
The e-mail to Senate Finance Committee members from David Rosenberg, a lawyer with the state's Division of Legislative Services, raises questions about whether the $437 million the lottery raised last fiscal year, and years before it, actually went uninterrupted to its intended recipients.
