Girl’s Night Out at Holy Trinity Church

Girl’s Night Out at Holy Trinity Church

Girls Night Out at Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity Challenge Club sponsored a “Girl’s Night Out” for pre-teen and teen girls to learn about their inner beauty, fashion, and to hear Pure Fashion model speakers Ashley Thomas and Therese McCullogh.  The mission of the Challenge Club is “To enable today’s young woman to give her best to others so that Christian culture will prevail in the heart of each person and in every society.”  The Challenge club is a mission of Regnum Christi, which was founded in 1959 by Marcial Maciel, who was from Mexico and experienced the Cristero Revolution during his childhood.[1] For more information about Regnum Christi see www.regnumchristi.org

Pure Fashion Model Ashley Thomas

Super model Ashley Thomas came to speak about being a “Pure Fashion” model and how it enriches the lives of young girls and women by teaching them about dignity and being a child of God, which is not the message given by the media.  Ashley stated that, “Many people think that looking good has to have certain criteria, as exemplified by the magazines, television shows, etc.”  She says our interior image as a “child of God” should be reflected on our outside image, especially in our eyes.  Whenever she meets somebody, she looks at their eyes to see if they are living virtue. When she wakes up in the morning and looks in the mirror she asks herself “Do I want to glorify God or myself?”  Ashley believes it is difficult to live a life with modesty and chastity because when you walk in the mall everything is contrary to that belief.  Ashley thinks you have to be creative with what God has given you and it’s a challenge to make outfits using clothing that’s available in the stores, since most of the clothes make you appear trashy.  Our main goal is to get to heaven and we really have to work hard to make that happen in our dress, because temptation is always present.  For more information about Pure Fashion see:  www.purefashion.com

Jewelry Station at Girls Night Out

The girls attending the night out were also enjoyed light refreshments and visiting various stations involving basic beauty care for skin, hair, and nails.  Local representatives from Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Tranquility Day Spa, assisted the girls with looking their best!  Jewelry maker, Ruth Schaper and Silpada Design representative, Lisa Yost assisted the girls in making simple jewelry for everyday use.

Girls Night Out at Holy Trinity

Challenge Girls Club members decorated the reception with brightly colored table cloths and flowers.  As a project they created posters displaying modest fashions they found in magazines and statements from saints, the bible and Shakespeare:

“Is she as kind as she is fair? For beauty lives with kindness.”  Shakespeare

“See the face of God in everyone.”  Saint Catherine Laboure

“And the most important piece of clothing you should wear is love.”  Colossians, 3:14

“God does not see the same way people see.  People see the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7
