Nokesville, VA.
Local residents and community members of outlying communities officially kicked off the 35th Annual Nokesville day on May 17, 2008. The parade was held on 1 ½ - 2 miles stretch along Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville VA. About 2,000 local residents and guests attended this annual event. The parade officially had a prompt start at 11:30 am. The Nokesville Fire Department Number 5 led the opening ceremony by blasting the fire truck siren horn marking the beginning of the event.

The Brentsville High School Marching Band provided the crowd high spirited display of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments and was well received by everyone. Other notables were the local farmer riding on flower bedded lawn mower, the 4-H Club riding bicycles, the Marine Corp Marching Band, and local residents watching on their front lawns. This yearly event is sponsored by the Nokesville Ruritan Club which also sponsors the Brunswick Stew Event.
This family annual event is a combination of old-fashioned community and modern entertainment complete with Bluegrass Music performed by the Brush Arbor Gospel Choir, Brentsville District High School Jazz Band, Lucky Stars Cloggers, and an exhibition wrestling demo provided by KYDA Pro Wrestling.
The Nokesville day is one of the few local annual events people should see in the last weeks of spring. Complimented with fair weather and bright sunshine, it should remain a mainstay for the whole community for the upcoming coming years.
