Civic Education a Must, According to Dr. Larry J. Sabato


"More citizens can name the three Stooges than can name the three branches of our government," claimed Dr. Sabato. He went on to assert that this lack of civic education prevents us from being able to solve the intractable problems which plague our nation. To remedy this problem, the University of Virginia's Center for Politics has developed a Youth Leadership Program which it offers at no charge to public schools across the country to teach civics to students. The program is already in use in most of Virginia's school systems, including Prince William County.

FREDERICKSBURG, June 24, 2009 - Bob McDonnell, Republican gubernatorial nominee and former Attorney General of Virginia, visited Jabberwocky Children's Books in Fredericksburg y to unveil a number of proposals aimed at assisting Virginia's small business owners. McDonnell was joined at the bookstore by store owners Mona Albertine and Linda Pisenti, and State Senator Ryan McDougle (R-Hanover). The small business policy proposals come at the same time that McDonnell is airing a new television commercial focused on his commitment to working across party lines to bring new jobs and more opportunities to every region of Virginia, and help Virginia's small business owners and entrepreneurs.
